Impact of Infrastructure on the Environment

Failures or shortcomings in our infrastructure can have a devastating impact on the environment.  The direct impacts of this can vary quite a bit – toxic spills out of broken oil pipelines and blown-out wells, waste runoff due to poorly-built or poorly-maintained sewer systems, destruction of habitat, interference with essential movement, such as building a highway or dam across a species’ migration route, and more.
